I don't have any completed costumes yet, but I am working on an interchangeable Quaxo/Mistoffelees number that I will post updates for here. I have the tails mostly finished, so those are included below. My wig is almost done as well, so once that's done I'll post those pics. Other than that, I possess the unitard and materials for making the bib area and flufflies, as well as warmers that I have to paint. I also have a velvet jacket with some rhine stones, but I have to alter the fit on the jacket a bit, so that will take more time. Anyways, that's where I'm headed. Here are the tail pics to start. I made two of the black, Mistoffelees tails because the first one I made I was concerned was too 'fluffy'. I plan to add glitter/shimmer powder to at least the braid tail if not both, to try to figure out which one is more appropriate. Anybody have any ideas?

They both look nice! Which method of tail-making did you use?

Thank you! I used a method I found on Catwoman's Costuming Site ( catwomans-costuming.tripod.com/id39.html). Basically I make a braid tail of an appropriate base color yarn (usually black or white, depending on if you are making a mostly dark or mostly light tail), and then knot small bunches of cut yarn around the base. I try to alternate the directions of how my yarn hangs when I knot it, so as to avoid having to go back and adding filler later. For the braiding, I just took several long strands of yarn, measured to my waist, and looped them to make them double thick. Then I just picked how many double strands I thought were an appropriate thickness (I want to say 6?) and made them one band of the braid.

Very cool, that's a good method.

Lightly mist when you use hairspray. You can always comb to restyle.
Cute wig.
