I don't like doing any one particular character, so I combine characters to see what kinda designs I come up with. BE FORWARNED MY CAMERA SUCKS. It eats up all the pretty colors, shading and layers I work so hard to put on. The first pic is a combination of Munkustrap and Jemima. My materials: one 30-year-old block of silver eye shadow, an eyeliner pencil of the same age and a Q-Tip. This was my first attempt at CATS make-up. The next ones are a combination of Jemima and Rumpleteazer. My materials were a small 12-color set of eye-shadow with a small but workable applicator, liquid eyeliner, and a new eyeliner pencil. A second attempt at make-up. Next is a combo of Rumpleteazer and my own Skimbleshanks variation. Same materials as above. Third attempt at CATS make-up. And finally, my OC, Liz Hopplebumper . As for materials with this one, I'm back to the 30 year-old pencil and block of silver eyeshadow (plus the little bit of liquid eyeliner I had left. NOTE: I did NOT forget the spots on the eyes...I ran out of black). Just did this one tonight. Getting better? I wanna try Ben Nye so bad....all my materials are from the freakin' dollar store!

OMG! You're Liz make-up is freakin' amazing!! That looks fantastic for having quality make-up, and you did it with limited supplies. I absolutely love it! You are incredibly talented when it comes to this make-up.
I also really like your design. I was debating trying to come up with make-up patterns for my OC's eventually, but I'm stuck on ideas to make it look cool.

The last one is my favorite, so dramatic! If you can't afford Ben Nye (I know I can't at the moment...) Cheap Halloween makeup is right in between street makeup and professional makeup. It's not nearly as great as Ben Nye but at least it gives you more colors to work with and more bang for your buck. (I'm talking about the cream makeup that comes in tubes not pallets.) You can get them at Party City when it's not Halloween if you ask them to look in back for some. But yeah, I really like your hybrids...how about Macavity and Bombalurina??

Pip: Thanks! Yeah, it came out much better then my first attempt at Liz (at which time, my computer had a virus and I was unable to get pics). I find the best was to create neat designs is start them on paper, of course. I like using at least three vastly different colors; a dark, a medium and a light; I also add a *primary color* either for highlights or eye-appeal (for example: smokey gray (my medium color), deep black (my dark color) and snowy white (my light color) for Liz's base colors + a little light blue (my primary color) to break up the monochromatic effect.) For your OC Maverick, for example, Dark Orange (your medium color) coupled with lighter orange highlights (will serve as your primary color), black stripes (your dark color---possibly lined with white to help them stand out against the darker orange) and bright white (your light color) for the muzzle/any other face markings will really pop and grab everyone's attention. Straighter lines come from a steady hand. I've been drawing since I was 13, (both traditional style and CG), so I've developed a very steady hand as well as a perfectionist attitude (both help dramatically when it comes to make-up). See if any of that helps! **a primary color is either blue, red or yellow; neither of these colors are natural coat colors found in cats of course, but it adds a slight humanistic look to your overall appearance**Atraielees: Problem with cheap halloween make-up is...most cheap cream-based make-up is made with pig-fat, and due to religious beliefs, I refuse to rub that stuff in my skin. Ben Nye (and I think a couple others) is the only brand that does NOT use pig fat to make their products. So, I'll just stick with the powder-based products until I can get my hands on that Ben Nye. Though I do LOVE your idea, I'd like to do a Macavity/Bombalurina hybrid next ^_^ Peterthethinker: Thanks a lot, dude! Yes, I'm very open to ideas/suggestions. Lay it on me; what'd ya have in mind?

You Might want to make the bottom eye area a tad less full of black
1/2 the thickness would still make it thicker then the top . But not too dark .
On the flip side the way you added the lighter grey right below the black in question is great ! it makes the face pop out a tad more ... Peter
