Hi. My family and I have been having an "argument" on how to pronounce Jemima. My mom, dad, and brother pronounce it like Juh-meye-muh. I pronounce it like Juh-mee-muh. How do you guys pronounce it?

Well, it's correctly pronounced 'juh-meye-muh' Like Aunt Jemima maple syrup. Hence the name change when it went from London to Broadway (They thought Jemima could be racist so they changed it to Sillabub) HOWEVER, for as long as I can remember I have pronounced it the way you do 'juh-mee-muh' So I guess you could argue it is a matter of personal preference since they never say her name out-loud in the show.

I have to agree with the first way to say it 'Je-meye-muh'. At least, that's how I said it. Like Trai said, it's like the maple syrup lady. I've never heard it pronounced the other way.

Ojeh, my pronounciation is completely different ... Oo I'm speaking it out pretty German-like I guess; I say "Jah-mee-moh" or sort of ... it depends on your accent ;D In German we speak things (or in this case) vocals out like how we write them. Sounds very confusing likely^^°
