(Hope it's okay that I'm continuing a bit here from the closed thread. If you wanted to move beyond this point, let me know and I guess you can just delete it.)
So that was that. Old Deuteronomy had officially announced to the tribe that trouble was coming, and now everyone was a murmur with worry and alert. But he still hadn't explained anything, at least not further than he had done so initially to Misto. And what's more Munkustrap seemed deeply troubled. He'd taken off without another word, which is now why Mistoffelees found himself trying to find the Jellicle protector.
It had been a few days since the announcement had been made, and Munkustrap had been particularly keen at avoiding the approach of unwanted visitors. Misto could understand that he would be perplexed, but he wasn't the only one, and he really wanted to talk to him about what their leader had said. If there was anything he could do, he wanted to be as prepared as possible. That, and Munkustrap had enough on his shoulders already without keeping this to himself as well.
Mistoffelees appeared on one of the junkpiles with a soft pop, stopping for a moment to catch his breath as he looked around, hoping to find some sign of the silver tom. He had searched several places in the Junkyard already, and if he didn't find him soon, he was going to have to call it quits and turn back. The rain was beginning to pick up, and though he tried to be non-plussed by such inconveniences, being wet was one thing he really hated.

(Hmm...can you make it so that it is a few days later? Perhaps Misto finds Munku in the depths of the yard, waiting out the rain...)

Munkustrap heard a pop and then saw Mistoffelees appear in the piles of junk that he, Munkustrap, was trying to take a nap in. Munkustrap sighed, the raid had worken him before, really, so there was no use getting mad at Misto. "In here!" he called to Misto from underneath the wood drawer he was taking shelter in. He really did not want to talk to Misto about what he was sure Misto wanted to talk about. However, at this point...there was no use in avoiding it much longer...something bad was bound to happen and he was going to have to deal with it. And deal with cats asking him what to do and how he, the Protector and second in line, was going to save them all and put things back to normal.

Mistoffelees' head snapped in the direction of Munku's voice, and he quickly darted himself under the drawer and out of the rain to join him. Good, at least the weather could be avoided for the moment. He took a moment to shake the remaining rain droplets from his tail before turning his attention to the reclined protector.
"I've been looking all over for you," he began, noting that the older tom seemed not to be in the best of moods. It was probably to be expected. He debated very briefly leaving him be, and perhaps trying to find him at a better time, but his better judgement told him that that time was not going to come until this was resolved. Best to get it over with now.
"I wanted to tell you...well, rather ask you..." he paused, trying to find the best way to broach the subject. "I've been feeling...something, of late. I have a feeling it has to do with what Old Deuteronomy talked to me about when he came to the yard...I was....well, I was wondering if you might tell me if he told you anything further." He looked at Munkustrap expectantly, hoping he didn't sound too intrusive in his questioning.

Munkustrap really did not want to talk to Mistoffelees about this, he die not want to talk to anyone about this. He wanted to hid alone in the drawer till the rain stopped the badness went away, just like a little kitten would do. That, unfortunately, was not an option.
He looked at Mistoffelees worried. "I..." Munku began. "I...can't feel it."
He looked down ashamed.
"I can feel anything at all from The Heavyside!" He shouted angrily. "Everlasting is warning us of some evil fate and I can't feel a damn thing!"
He slumped down again looked miserably at nothing.

Mistoffelees stiffened slightly at the unexpected outburst, though his face quickly changed to one of great concern. He'd seen Munkustrap get mildly upset when things were bothering him before, but he had never been one to really show his frustration openly to the others. Misto had assumed it was part of the whole 'Protector' image he was trying to portray. This must be really bothering him.
"I...." he glanced briefly back out the way he had come. Maybe he should just let him alone...The storm was beginning to pick up, however, and with it the wind, blowing the rain about them in an intensifying whirl. He turned back to Munkustrap. He couldn't just leave him like this. He knew from experience, even when one felt stubborn and insisted on being alone, sometimes it was best to have someone there, even if you think you don't want it.
He took a tentative step towards Munkustrap. "It hasn't been strong...well, not until recently...it's always been easy for me to sense these sorts of things. I guess it's part of, well..." he as going to say 'his gift', but Munkus was clearly upset over this right now, and he didn't want to rub it in or make him feel worse. His tone was apologetic. "I'm sure you're not the only one. We'd all like to know what's going on. That's why I came to you...you see I don't know either...not really. Just that it's bad. ...I could use your help."
This last bit was meant to be encouraging. He really did need Munkustrap right now, and it was likely the rest of the tribe did too. He might not have a special connection with the Heavyside, or be able to sense the doom ahead of them, but he was the tribe protector, and a respected leader and friend to many of them. Those were shoes that no-one else could fill right now.

Munkustrap, despite how bad he felt, could tell that Mistoffelees was being genuine.
"Thank you Mistoffelees, I appreciate the kind thoughts. I'm just now sure how I can help at this stage."
He thought for a bit. If only the particularly magical cats were feeling it, perhaps it was not odd that he did not have that sense. He did have a connection to Everlasting, just maybe it was not as strong as he previously thought, and perhaps that wasn't a bad thing.
"Old Deuteronomy says its something that will effect everyone in the tribe and perhaps it is something we can not prevent. But must over come somehow. There's really not much we can do till it gets here."
Munkustrap looked hopefully at Mistoffelees. Is that what he wanted to hear? Could he use any of that information? Munkustrap wanted to think so, but he was so full of doubt that his hopes were half-hearted and week.
Just then, Munkustrap heard a crash outside in the rain. Then a voice saying 'Jellicles, Jellicles, come out and play.'
"What was that?!" Munkustrap was on his feet, alert and disturbed.

Mistoffelees relaxed slightly. It seemed his words at least served to partially placate the protector. But that didn't really solve their bigger problem, and Munkustrap was all too aware of it as well. He listened intently, nodding as Munkustrap explained what Old Deuteronomy had told him. It certainly didn't sound good. Something they couldn't prevent?? He could feel his stomach sink a bit at that. He had hoped that, by talking with Munkustrap, he might find a way to be better prepared for what was coming. That perhaps if they knew more they could avoid it altogether, between them and some of the other toms in the 'Yard. He tried to swallow his own doubts, knowing they wouldn't help right now. He wasn't feeling very reassured though. "If there's anything I can do to..." he started, wanting to let Munkustrap know that he was ready to do whatever he could to help, if help could be given. But as he did so, he suddenly felt that familiar, horrible twinge somewhere deep in his spine and instantly tensed. That vague bad feeling he had been having was all at once setting off alarms all over the place within him. Before he could fully ascertain what it was, however, an eerie voice floated across the 'Yard, and it was all Mistoffelees could do not to visibly shudder. As Munkustrap spoke again, Misto was already alert and moving towards the edge of the drawer to get a look at what it was. It was raining hard now, but he poked his head out from beneath the cover to glance in the direction the feeling, and the voice, had come from. He paled when his eyes beheld the scraggly figure standing far too close to them in the center of the Junkyard. How could he possibly be here?!? Not good indeed. He swallowed hard. Old Deuteronomy had been right. Something had come, and it wasn't good. Macavity had gotten in, somehow, despite their defenses, and now they were going to have to deal with it, one way or another. "Macavity..." he breathed, the horror and fear evident in his voice despite its softness. (Sounds good to me . Time for some action!)
